Another Hello
Hello there.
I can never think of a name to call myself on forums so I ended up looking at a list of words in Yucatec (a Mayan language that I didn't have a clue about until today) and I picked "chokow pol" because not only does it sound amusing, it means "insane". In reality I'm actually the perfect model of mental health. ;)I first played shogi on my Nintendo DS, and in all honesty, I didn't like it. It wasn't until I started watching Hidetchi's videos that it clicked for me.

Welcome to the 81 Square Universe, Chokow.
It seems we've got a few people who started on the DS.
I'm glad it's introduced so many people to shogi.

It's unsurprising. The DS sold well, and so did 42 All Time Classics. I actually bought the game only for shogi, and slogged my way through just to unlock it.It's a shame that the AI is pretty silly.

Re: Another Hello
Yeah I wish English shogi software wasn't so weak. I own a copy of Ultimate Board Game Collection for PSP, which includes shogi, and the AI is awful. I wager I could beat it with a 6 piece handicap on its hardest difficulty. You can see my review of that shogi game here. And even Shotest Shogi for Xbox 360 isn't that good. Hopefully someone will localize or create a shogi game that actually puts up a challenge.

Re: Another Hello
In the US it's Clubhouse Games. In Europe it's 42 All Time Classics.
